Communication Platforms for Schools

There are several communication platforms that schools can use to enhance communication between students, teachers, parents, and administrators. These platforms help streamline information sharing, collaboration, and engagement within the school community.

We do not endorse or promote any specific systems however here are some popular options:

  1. Google Workspace for Education (formerly G Suite for Education): Google Workspace offers a suite of tools including Gmail, Google Classroom, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and more. It’s widely used by schools for communication, collaboration, and document sharing.
  2. Microsoft Teams for Education: Microsoft Teams provides a comprehensive platform for communication, collaboration, and virtual classrooms. It offers features like chat, video conferencing, document sharing, and integration with other Microsoft Office tools.
  3. ClassDojo: ClassDojo is designed specifically for communication between teachers, students, and parents. It allows teachers to share updates, photos, videos, and conduct remote parent-teacher conferences.
  4. Remind: Remind is a messaging platform that allows teachers to send messages, announcements, and assignments to students and parents via text messages or app notifications.
  5. Edmodo: Edmodo is a social learning platform that combines communication and collaboration. Teachers can create classes, share resources, and engage students in discussions and assignments.
  6. Seesaw: Seesaw is often used in early education settings. It lets students create digital portfolios of their work and allows teachers to share updates, assignments, and feedback with parents.
  7. Powerschool, Canvas, SMS: There are several learning management systems (LMS) that include communication tools such as announcements, discussions, and messaging. It’s widely used in higher education but also adopted by K-12 schools.
  8. ParentSquare: ParentSquare is a platform designed to connect schools with parents. It offers messaging, announcements, event RSVPs, and other communication features.

  10. Schoology: Schoology is another LMS that includes communication features like discussions, announcements, and messaging. It’s commonly used in K-12 schools and districts.

When selecting a communication platform for your school, consider factors such as ease of use, integration with existing systems, security, privacy features, and the specific needs of your school community. It’s important to choose a platform that aligns with your school’s goals and enhances communication and collaboration effectively.
